A 52-Week Photo Journey

Week 6 – #22. Group Portraits

Mostly, my photography interests lie in landscapes, street photography and macro. I have never given much thought to taking group portraits and was troubled as to what I could photograph to satisfy that theme. However, as noted in my previous post, I attended the Sarasota Cuban Ballet School’s performance recently and, although I was not certain it was permissible, I took my camera and managed to snap a few decent shots from my seat high in the balcony. After cropping, and with a little help from Photoshop, I am not too unhappy with this photo.  Click the photo for an enlarged view.
16. Group Portraits

A true Southerner, I was born in Georgia but lived most of my adult life in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In 2001, my husband and I retired and moved to beautiful Sarasota, FL. We quickly realized that we were not retirement material and could not play golf two or three times a week so we got our real estate licenses and affiliated with Coldwell Banker on Longboat Key. My love for photography is very beneficial to me when photographing interiors and exteriors of the homes we list. Other than photography, I have a keen interest in genealogy and golf (whenever I can find the spare time from our real estate practice).

  1. Good idea! I am also a little troubled by this theme! I very seldom take pictures of people.

  2. Well done, as usual. It is a “graceful” group.

  3. beautiful as always, MN! I’m with you on this theme, but then it occurred to me that it just says group portraits… I’m thinking of taking a portrait of a group of something that’s not people. =)

  4. Great idea! You surely have a group of moose!!

  5. No one would know that your group portrait was not a posed photo. It is excellent and your border treatment is top notch. Well done MN.

  6. Nice capture – it is difficult in theater situations.

  7. Great shot… 🙂 Everyone is really starting to put on their thinking caps now!
