This week while downtown with a fellow photographer, we walked past Smokin Joe’s, a favorite local night spot. I have always liked the energy there so swung my camera up to my eye and captured this photo. While processing, I wondered what “downtown in B&W” would look like so I processed it using the black and white adjustment layer. The energy was portrayed just as strongly in black and white as it was in color, I thought.
A true Southerner, I was born in Georgia but lived most of my adult life in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In 2001, my husband and I retired and moved to beautiful Sarasota, FL. We quickly realized that we were not retirement material and could not play golf two or three times a week so we got our real estate licenses and affiliated with Coldwell Banker on Longboat Key. My love for photography is very beneficial to me when photographing interiors and exteriors of the homes we list.
Other than photography, I have a keen interest in genealogy and golf (whenever I can find the spare time from our real estate practice).

What a contrast to the colorful banner on your page here, but both are so well done. You made Smokin’ Joe’s look like it could be in a small town – except the lights on the trees let me know it’s back here.

Sometimes when you have to choose between color and black & white, color wins. Not true here. This photo does not disappoint! This would be a great poster for Smokin’ Joes!

B&W renditions are more revealing since the mind is not cluttered with a myriad of color content. I rather like it!
