A 52-Week Photo Journey

… Mary Nell Moore's Photography

Week 21 – #30. Show Us Your (Color) Bokeh

Last evening, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. I had just settled down for a long winter’s nap when out on the deck there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. Away to the glass door, I flew like a flash, slung open the door and let out a gasp. What to my wandering eyes should appear but a miniature Santa sitting on the rail on his rear. More rapid than eagles, I flew back to the den, grabbed my Nikon and crammed a memory card in. Steady on the tripod and with aperture wide open, I pressed back button focus for a sharp photo, I’m hopin’. With flash on TTL, off camera please, the time was ready to press shutter release. Laying his finger aside to his nose, he gave a big nod and a perfect pose. I thanked ‘lil Santa with a very loud scream, for he gave me an opportunity to satisfy a photo theme. “Show us your (color) bokeh” was harder than ever, but thanks to ‘lil Santa and city lights, I was able to deliver. I sprang to the deck, to ‘lil Santa gave a whistle, rushed back in the house like the down of a thistle. Placing him back on the mantle midst pine cones just right, I’ll swear I heard him exclaim, “Happy Christmas all bloggers, and to all a good-night.”

A true Southerner, I was born in Georgia but lived most of my adult life in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In 2001, my husband and I retired and moved to beautiful Sarasota, FL. We quickly realized that we were not retirement material and could not play golf two or three times a week so we got our real estate licenses and affiliated with Coldwell Banker on Longboat Key. My love for photography is very beneficial to me when photographing interiors and exteriors of the homes we list. Other than photography, I have a keen interest in genealogy and golf (whenever I can find the spare time from our real estate practice).
