Week 9 – #29. On The Edge

Nature was good to us on a recent visit to Chattanooga.  First, we saw two adorable fawn enjoying an afternoon snack of wildflowers in the back yard and another day we saw this large hawk sitting “on the edge” of the deck railing. Even though it was noon time (bad lighting), I jumped up, grabbed my camera and captured this photo through a closed sliding glass door. Unfortunately, to add another lighting issue, our sliding glass doors have protective film on them which interfered with a sharp photo but I could not let this opportunity pass me by. As I slowly approached the door, the hawk must have heard me approaching and turned his head towards the house. Isn’t nature wonderful?

Week 8 – #46. The Color Purple

Crepe Myrtle trees adorn many southern landscapes because they are easy to grow as long as they are planted in well-draining soil and in plenty of light. There are a variety of colors: white and many different shades of red, pink and purple. They are all beautiful but if I had to select one color I like best, it would be “the color purple.”Week 8 #46 The Color Purple_MNM2268

Week 7 – #1. A Bench At _______

This 1894 Dentzel carousel is a central feature in Coolidge Park in Chattanooga. The antique carousel was restored by local master wood carver Bud Ellis and a devoted team of craftspeople and volunteers at his studio “Horsing Around” located near Chattanooga.
The carousel provides a delightful old-fashioned experience with 52 whimsical hand carved animals, a calliope band organ, and ornate gold leaf benches. The next time you’re in Chattanooga and would like an enjoyable carousel ride, be a kid again and jump on one of the carousel’s hand carved animals or just sit on “a bench at” Coolidge Park’s 1894 antique carousel.

Week 6 – #36. Seasonal Showers/Inclement Weather

On this rainy/foggy day, I could’ve stepped out on my deck in Tennessee and taken a photograph of nothing but deck railing and heavy fog but instead I encouraged Mike to drive up to the top of Signal Mountain in “seasonal showers/inclement weather” where I found this charming little house partially covered with vines and draped in fog.  I was a bit concerned that the rain would damage my camera and lens so I hopped in the back seat and photographed it through the opened back window of the car figuring it best to get the back seat wet than my camera. Smart, eh? I am guessing the house was built in the early 1900’s and has been lovingly restored by its current owners. What a beauty with its gate, fence, front door and window trim all in a beautiful shade of red.  I would love to be invited inside.
