Week 34 -#A4. Photographer’s Choice

Blue hour, my favorite time of day, provided me with this scene one evening as I was traveling to my office on Longboat Key. In addition to the lighting, the movement of traffic crossing the Ringling Bridge was a perfect “photographer’s choice” for a long exposure.

Week 33 – #41. The Night Sky

My friend, Susan, and I decided to do some Sarasota night photography a few weeks ago. Blue hour is one of my favorite times for photography and I was not disappointed with “the night sky” on this beautiful evening. I was thankful for the gentle breeze which created wispy movement in the clouds as they passed between the palm trees and moon.

Week 14 – #6. Bridge

I consider myself very fortunate to be able to call two beautiful cities “home.” Last week, I posted a long exposure of my Sarasota home city framed with the beautiful Ringling Bridge. This week, I want to introduce you to a long exposure of my Chattanooga home city framed with not one bridge but three, the Walnut Street Bridge, the Market Street Bridge and, in the far distance, the Olgiati Bridge. Chattanooga has a fourth bridge downtown, the Veteran’s Bridge, but it is just to the left and out of the frame of this photo. The red streak is a result of the long exposure as a riverboat made its way slowly up the river.

Week 13. #24. Long Exposure

Thanks to this challenge and a fellow photographer, I learned something new last week. On a beautiful day with a gentle breeze and puffy clouds above, I learned to use a variable filter, which I have had for nearly a year and never used. We spent about 3 hours together with a goal of learning how to use the variable filter resulting in a long exposure. Alongside the Ringling Bridge and overlooking the Bay towards downtown Sarasota provided the perfect venue.
